YSDKS3A7E20 is a single-chip solution for embedded applications. It combines the power of an Arm Cortex-A7 processor with a full-featured FPGA fabric and various peripheral devices such as 32KBytes of RAM, 16MB of SPI flash, 5 megabit SRAM, dual UARTs, CAN, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. This single-chip solution enables the development of low-cost, low-power embedded systems with high performance and easy scalability.
This evaluation board provides a comprehensive integrated tool suite that includes a development environment populated with demos and sample applications as well as a simulation and debugging environment. It supports software development for the Cortex-A7 processor and the FPGA fabric in three main programming languages: C/C++, RTL HDL (Verilog/VHDL), and OpenCL. With the YSDKS3A7E20, developers can prototype a wide variety of embedded applications in a prototyping time and at a fraction of the cost of existing solutions.
Application field
The YSDKS3A7E20 has a wide variety of applications in the fields of MCU, DSP, automotive, consumer electronics, robotics, and industrial applications. Its low power consumption, fast prototyping, ease of scalability, and diverse programming languages make it suitable for many embedded and industrial applications, including:
- Building automation such as home and building security, lighting control, climate control, etc.
- Automotive applications such as engine control, anti-lock brakes, navigation systems, etc.
- Robotics such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), humanoid robots, etc.
- Industrial applications such as machine control, automated inspection, object tracking, etc.
- Consumer electronics such as home entertainment systems, televisions, etc.
- Communications and networking applications such as security cameras, radio control systems, RF modems, etc.
Working principle
The YSDKS3A7E20 evaluation board is based on a single-chip design, which integrates a Cortex-A7 processor core and a complete FPGA fabric. It also includes an on-chip bus and peripheral device support, 32KBytes RAM, 16MB SPI flash for storage, 5 megabit SRAM, dual UARTs, CAN bus, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. This allows the board to operate independently as stand-alone embedded applications or in conjunction with other boards or external control devices.
The Cortex-A7 processor core is the main computing element of the board. It has a maximum clock frequency of 1.5 GHz and can run up to four software threads concurrently. A 4MB L1 cache is available to support the processor core, and there is a 4MB L2 cache shared across the FPGA fabric. The FPGA fabric consists of four independent programmable regions, which can be used to implement custom logic, microprocessor support functions, and I/O peripheral interfaces.
The evaluation board also includes a 32-bit microcontroller unit (MCU), which runs on an independent clock from the processor core. It acts as an asynchronous controller for input and output devices, providing a direct interface to external sensors, actuators, and other devices. The MCU is also responsible for the communication between the processor core and peripherals via an on-chip bus or Ethernet.
The board offers a wide range of development and debugging tools, which includes a development environment, multiple compilers, and an integrated debugging environment. A demo application and sample applications are provided to help developers get started quickly.
The evaluation board is ideal for prototyping low-cost, low-power embedded systems with high performance and easy scalability. It can be used for a variety of applications in the MCU, DSP, automotive, consumer electronics, robotics, and industrial fields.
