Thyristors - TRIACs are semiconductor devices made of silicon material which has three terminal leads, namely gate lead, main terminal 1 and main terminal 2. Z0109MARL1G is one type of TRIAC with applications in switching and phase control.
Z0109MARL1G may be used in applications such as motor switching and AC phase control. It is a tristable semiconductor with two operation modes, forward blocking mode and reverse blocking mode. When the voltage applied across the main terminals and gate leads is increased, the device switches from the reverse blocking mode to the forward blocking mode and the circuit is then in an ‘on’ state. When the voltage across the main terminals and gate leads is decreased, the device switches back to the reverse blocking mode and it is in the ‘off’ state.
