UC385TD-2

The UC385TD-2 is a three-terminal, monolithic linear voltage regulator specifically designed for automotive applications by Unisonic Technologies. Working Principle

The UC385TD-2 utilizes a high quality monolithic CMOS process to achieve its impressive design characteristics. The device consists of a resistive network integrated between the output voltage pin and the ground. This resistive network is capable of monitoring the output voltage and providing the necessary adjustments in order to maintain its accuracy over temperature, load current changes and output voltage variations.

The voltage regulator also contains two current mirrors. These current mirrors are able to detect and compare the output voltage to the reference voltage in order to regulate the existing output. The reference voltage provides a stable output within a given range. The first current mirror is responsible for regulating the output voltage and the second is responsible for protecting the device from any over-current events.

The UC385TD-2 also features an ESD protection network, which is designed to protect the device against electrostatic charges. By utilizing an ion-semiconductor process, the device achieves a high ESD Rating of over 8kV. The design also includes thermal shut down and current limit protection to protect the device and the components connected to it.
