Features
The AD5542ARZ-REEL7 DAC has a wide input voltage range (3V – 15V), an output voltage range that is adjustable with a very high precision (1uV), and an input/output interface that is compatible with single and dual voltage supplies. The output voltage is regulated and can be programmed from -5V to +5V. It has an 800kHz maximum converter operation speed with a maximum conversion rate of 44kHz. The DAC also features a power-saving, low-power shutdown mode, which reduces power consumption to 1uA, when the device is not in use.Application Field
The AD5542ARZ-REEL7 is ideal for use in high-precision control applications that require ultra-low voltage signal control. The operating principle of the AD5542ARZ-REEL7 DAC is based on “voltage mode” conversion. This means that it converts a digital signal into an analog signal by adjusting the output voltage according to the input voltage. This is achieved by using a resistor ladder network, which consists of precision resistors that are connected between the power supply and the DAC output. The resistor values are adjusted according to the digital input value, which determines the output voltage.When a digital input signal is applied to the DAC, the current at the output is controlled by the resistor ladder network. The current through each resistor in the ladder network is proportional to the digital input value, therefore the output voltage is determined by the current distribution. The output voltage is then stored in an on-chip capacitor. The output voltage is discharged or scaled by an external reference voltage.
