NXP wireless MCU new products are asked to the market, how to achieve higher bandwidth and lower latency?

Last Update Time: 2023-06-17 11:33:19

NXP Semiconductors announced that the KW3x microcontroller (MCU) series has launched the new MCU product KW39/38/37. KW39/38/37 adds functions such as Bluetooth 5.0 long-distance transmission and Bluetooth advertising channel expansion. While supporting all the new features of Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0, it can seamlessly migrate with the previous generation product KW34/35/36 in terms of hardware, software and tool compatibility. The low-power Bluetooth products designed with this MCU can support data communications greater than one mile away, and increase the number of Bluetooth broadcast channels to achieve data broadcasting that conforms to the Bluetooth standard and mainstream IoT protocols. The KW39/38/37 wireless MCU provides developers with solutions for emerging digital applications in the automotive and industrial fields.

The hardware and software of KW39/38/37 wireless MCU are designed according to the standards of automobile grade and industrial grade, and integrate CAN-FD peripheral with stable communication function. This series is ideal for applications in the automotive industry, such as keyless entry, sensors and wireless in-vehicle diagnostic functions. In addition, a variety of industrial applications can be realized, such as building control and monitoring, fire protection and security, home and institutional medical care, asset management and monitoring, and various other industrial applications.

KW39/38/37 series has first-class RF performance and excellent receiving sensitivity, which can realize long-distance low-power Bluetooth connection. For example, with a receiving sensitivity of 105 dBM and a rate of 125 kbits/s LE encoding mode, Bluetooth connections in harsh environments and longer distances can be achieved. In addition, RF can easily support 8 secure connections of any master/slave combination at the same time, allowing multiple authorized users to communicate with the device. The data stream buffers of this series of MCUs have innovatively realized that RF parameters can be captured without suspending the processor or DMA, making high-precision measurements required for distance and angle estimation possible.

NXP's MCUXpresso tool suite uses a certified Bluetooth low energy protocol stack and supports application programming interface calls. The new KW39/38/37 MCU is compatible with previous generation products in hardware and software, shortening the design cycle. In addition, KW38 MCU integrates FlexCAN, which can be seamlessly integrated into the industrial CAN communication network or the car's vehicle network. The FlexCAN module can support CAN's flexible data transmission rate (CAN FD) to achieve higher bandwidth and lower latency.
