Effect of Eu doping concentration on luminescence properties of phosphors

Different concentrations of Eu in the substrate will affect the luminescence properties of the synthesized phosphors. When the concentration is low, the number of luminous centers is small and the intensity of luminescence is low due to the small number of active ions participating in the luminescence.

However, excessive doping of rare earth ions will lead to the decrease of luminescence intensity and the phenomenon of concentration quenching. The concentration of activator is the critical concentration of dopant activator when the intensity of luminescence reaches the maximum.

In order to obtain better luminescent phosphors, this paper studies the effect of Eu concentration on luminescence performance. Emission spectra and luminescence intensity contrast curves of a series of phosphors doped with different concentrations of EU ions under the excitation of 394nm near ultraviolet light. The shape of the emission spectrum and the position of the emission peak remained unchanged, but the emission intensity was constantly changing. When the concentration of Eu ion was 20 mol%, the luminescence intensity reached the maximum. With the increase of Eu ion concentration, the luminescence intensity of the phosphor decreases sharply, and the concentration quenching appears.
