How to repair and replace the potentiometer?

1.Repair:

1)Rotation axis is not flexible. It is mainly caused by the drying of a large amount of dirt and lubricating oil in the shaft sleeve. When this problem is found,the potentiometer can be disassembled, the shaft sleeve and other unclean places are scrubbed with gasoline, and then lubricating butter is added to the shaft sleeve, and reassemble it again.

 

2)The potentiometer terminal and the carbon membrane discontinuous path ( mostly for silver coating ), and the other end of the fixed piece are not used or welded together with the moving piece, at this time, the welding position of the two fixed films is exchanged, which can be used normally.

 

3)Switch on bad contact.

The switch parts of the potentiometer have been fixed in the production, and are not easy to be disassembled and disassembled. In general, when there is bad spring or the switch bakelite switch is crushed, can only replace the switch to solve.

In addition, after the potentiometer is repaired many times, the fixed hook of the switch sleeve is damaged, so that it can not be fixed well, which affects the normal toggle of the switch. At this time with the appropriate hardness of copper wire or copper in situ on the other welding a few small hook can be repaired.

 

4)Slider contact is not good. It is mainly caused by the accumulation of dirt at the center sliding contact. Remove the switch section, remove the connector, wipe the carbon diaphragm, the central ring contact piece and the joint at the joint with gasoline or alcohol, then install the connector, adjust the joint pressure to the appropriate degree. If the abrasion of the carbon film in the potentiometer is bad, the metal brush contacts can be gently bent inward or outward, thus changing the movement track of the metal brush on the carbon film. The repaired potentiometer can be measured by an ohmmeter, so that the stylus can swing smoothly and without beating.

 

2.Replace

1) If there is no high resistance potentiometer, it can be solved by series resistance of low resistance potentiometer.

 

2) If there is no low resistance potentiometer, the parallel resistance of the high resistance potentiometer can be solved.

An appropriate resistance is about to be connected in parallel between the two feet.

 

3)When there is no potentiometer, the trimmer resistor can be used as a miniature potentiometer. Select a vertical or horizontal trimmer resistor, weld a rotating shaft on the trimmer resistor, and then cover a section of plastic pipe on the rotating shaft.

4)Some of the potentiometers in the line are adjusted, generally do not need to be adjusted or rarely need to be adjusted, and can be directly replaced by fixed resistors. The best resistance must be tested before substituting. If the resistance value does not meet the requirements, two or more resistors can be used to solve the problem through series and parallel connection.
