Some types of common resistor
1. Fusing resistor
Fuse resistor is a new type of dual function components. When the circuit works normally, it has the function of ordinary resistor; when the circuit exceed its rated power, it will fuse like a fuse, and the connection circuit will be disconnected, thus playing a protective role. The fuse resistor can be divided into winding type, metal film type, carbon film type, chemical deposition film type and so on, and its resistance range is 0.33ohm ~ 10kilo-ohm.
2. Rectangular chip resistor
Rectangular chip resistor is one of the surface mount components developed earlier and larger output.
Due to different manufacturing processes, there are two types of resistors, one is thick film type ( RN type ), the other is film type ( RK type ). The thick film type is printed on a flat high purity Al203 substrate, and a layer of resistance paste is printed, which is formed by photolithography; the film resistor is formed by spraying a layer of nickel-chromium alloy on the substrate, which has stable performance and high resistance value, but the price is more expensive. A special glass glaze coating is coated on the resistance layer, so the resistance is very stable under high temperature and high humidity.
Note : rectangular chip resistors are generally used in higher frequency products such as electronic tuners and mobile communications, improving installation density and reliability.
3. Cylindrical chip resistor, that is, metal electrode without pin end element, referred to as MELF resistor.
There are three kinds of MELF, which are carbon film ERD, high performance metal film ERO type and cross-connected 00 resistor.
Compared with the rectangular chip resistor, it has no directionality and positive and negative characteristics, the packaging is easy to use, the assembly density is high, and the fixed to the printed board has a higher anti-bending ability especially, the noise level and the third harmonic distortion are relatively low, which are often used in high-end audio products. The MELF resistor is coated with a metal film or a carbon film on a high aluminum ceramic substrate, and both ends of the resistor are pressed on the metal cap electrode, and the resistance value is adjusted by the method of cutting thread grooves, the surface is coated with a heat-resistant paint seal, and finally the color code mark is painted according to the resistance value.
4. Resistor network
Resistance network is a composite component of resistor integration. It has the characteristics of small volume, light weight, high density installation, high reliability and good solderability. In use, the welding away from the elicited end of the component will not bring heat shock, the elicited end is flat and short, and the components are sealed, and the parasitic electrical parameters are small and easy to shield. Resistance network is divided into thick film type and thin film type according to the characteristics of resistance film. The thick film resistor network is commonly used, and the thin film resistor network is only used in high frequency and precise conditions.
