How to repair a transformer after it has been damaged

The common fault of the transformer is that the primary coil is burnt out ( open circuit ) or short circuit; short circuit between electrostatic shield and primary or secondary coils short circuit between secondary side coils; short circuit to ground of secondary side and secondary side coil. After the transformer is damaged, it can be replaced directly with the same model. When substituting, we should pay attention to power, input and output voltage. Some special transformers should also pay attention to impedance.


If there is no same model, the following methods can be used for maintenance :

( 1 ) Winding


1) When the transformer is damaged, it can also disassemble itself around the system. The winding transformer method is : first, heat the transformer, remove the core, and then remove the coil ( as far as possible to retain the original skeleton ). Remember the turn and wire diameters of the primary and secondary coils, find the same specifications of the enameled wire, use the winding machine around the system, and according to the original wiring connection, then insert the silicon steel sheet to heat, impregnate the insulating paint, and then dry.

2)Coil rapid estimation method. Because the number of turns of the small transformer is more and the count is difficult, the number of turns can be estimated by weighing method of balance. That is, when the coil is removed, the secondary side coil is removed first, and the framework and the primary coil are weighed on the balance ( for example, 100g ), and then the coil can be removed directly weigh the weight of the first and second side coils. When re-winding, weighing with the balance, to 100g, that is, basically the number of the original coil turns ( by this method around the V1N1 transformer, it will not affect its performance, and the number of turns is less, and the number of turns can be checked according to V2N2, so that the number of turns can be more accurate.

 

( 2 ) When the repair winding of winding and ground short circuit is short-circuited with the electrostatic isolation layer or the core, the power transformer can be isolated from the ground, and the circuit can resume normal operation.

The winding of the power transformer is short-circuited with the electrostatic isolation layer, so long as the electrostatic isolation layer is disconnected from the ground joint. The winding of the power transformer and the short circuit of the core can be separated from the ground by an insulating board. The emergency method can be used to avoid rewinding the transformer. However, due to the electrostatic isolation layer does not work, sometimes there will be the phenomenon of clutter interference. At this time, a zero-point method can be paralleled at the primary or secondary side of the power transformer, and the voltage is 400 ~ 600V, which is solved by the electrodeless fixed capacitor, or in the power circuit, on the addition of RC or LC filter circuit to solve.

 

( 3 ) Repairing of open-circuit of primary side of transformer Some power transformer primary winding one end of which is connected with a safety chip resistor, which is easy to break open circuit, thus, the power transformer can not work at the primary side of the circuit, and usually a wire can be used to shorten the two ends of the power transformer.
