Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are electrical components used to store electrical energy. They have two terminals and a dielectric consisting of a metal oxide layer. Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are polarized – one of the terminals is positive and the other negative. They are widely used in electronic circuits as power supplies, voltage regulators and as filters for RF and audio signals.

The 107LBB450M2CD aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a capacitor which uses aluminum oxide as the dielectric. Its rated voltage is 450V, and it has an extended life of 7000 hours. It has a high thermal performance rating with a temperature coefficient of zero and a load life of 2000 hours at 105°C.

The 107LBB450M2CD aluminum electrolytic capacitor is ideal for use in high-power switching applications such as motor drives, power supplies, and inverters. Its low internal resistance and low ESR makes it ideal for use in high current applications. It is also suitable for use as a decoupling capacitor in power supplies and as a smoothing capacitor in audio amplifiers.

In operation, an electric field is established between two terminals of an electrolytic capacitor when a voltage is applied between them. The electric field accelerates the electrolyte (an ionized liquid) particles to the anode, causing a separation of charge and a buildup of an oxide film on the surface of the anode. This oxide film acts as the insulating dielectric layer between the anode and the cathode. This oxide film is very thin, which is why electrolytic capacitors have a much higher capacitance than other types of capacitors. As the applied voltage increases, the thickness of the oxide layer increases, which increases the amount of stored energy.

Another feature of electrolytic capacitors is that they have a polarity, which must be observed when connecting them to a circuit. If the capacitor is connected with the wrong polarity, the voltage supply will reverse the capacitor’s polarity and the capacitor will be destroyed. Therefore, when connecting an electrolytic capacitor to a circuit it is important to connect it correctly with the positive terminal of the capacitor being connected to the positive supply and the negative terminal being connected to the ground.
