Aluminum - Polymer Capacitors

Aluminum-polymer capacitors, also known as aluminum electrolytic capacitors, are electrolytic capacitors with an anode made of a pure aluminum foil with an etched surface coated with an insoluble electrolytic compound. This compound acts as the dielectric, providing capacitance and stability against voltage surges. The back surface of the aluminum foil is insulated with a thin plastic film to prevent direct electrical contact with the opposite polarity of the anode.
The aluminum-polymer capacitor provides many features that are useful and desirable in a variety of applications, including high capacitance, high temperature stability, high levels of both AC and DC voltages and long life. Other features include excellent resistance to mechanical shock and vibration, low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and superior reliability in difficult operating environments.

Working Principle of 10SVPC120M

The 10SVPC120M capacitor has an anode made of pure aluminum foil with an etched surface. This forms a capacitor where the anode acts as the positive electrode and the opposite polarity is formed by the electrolytic compound coated onto the aluminum foil. When voltage is applied across the capacitor, a current passes through the gate oxide, resulting in a voltage drop across the oxide.
