Aluminum - Polymer Capacitors

Aluminum-polymer capacitors are electrical capacitors built with an anode consisting of an aluminum foil covered by an organic polymer film as one of the links in an electric circuit. The other links are the cathode, a second organic polymer film containing an electrolyte, and the connections between the two layers and the circuit itself. The aluminum-polymer capacitor is found in many applications, including power conditioning, electro-mechanical systems, and audio-visual equipment.

Constructed Components

The aluminum-polymer capacitor consists of three fundamental layers, the anode made from aluminum foil, the cathode made from polyethylene, and the dielectric (electrical insulator) connecting them.
