Working Principle

The 1EZ110D10/TR12 is based on the principle of the Zener effect. This is the phenomenon where a diode connected in the reverse direction has a sharply defined breakdown voltage, known as the Zener voltage. The device controls the current passing through it so that it remains constant when the voltage on either side of it changes. This makes it an ideal choice in situations where current must be regulated but the voltage is expected to fluctuate.

When the voltage across the diode exceeds the Zener voltage, the diode begins to conduct current in the reverse direction. This reduces the voltage across the diode to the Zener voltage, and the current is regulated. This process is known as Zener breakdown.
