The 1N4494 is a general-purpose zener diode in a DO-41 package. It is widely used in circuit protection, rectification, and voltage regulation applications due to its reliable and cost effective design. This diode, like other zener diodes, is typically used as an avalanche diode when forward biased and as a zener diode when reverse biased.
