1N5340B/TR8 is a single zener diode. It is a three-terminal negative voltage regulator with a zener diode built into the lead. It provides both overvoltage protection and adjustable output voltage. It has a wide operating range and a low power output.
Application Field
1N5340B/TR8 is used in many applications like AC/DC circuit protection, power supply sequencing, overvoltage protection, EMI/RFI filter, surge protection, and more. The primary application is to provide a voltage source to power a system or parts of the system. It can be used to provide a stable voltage source by regulating the voltage into a range. Working Principle
1N5340B/TR8 works by limiting the amount of current that flows through it. The current flows from its anode to its cathode only when there is a voltage above a certain level (zener voltage). When the voltage reaches the zener voltage, the current is then limited and can no longer exceed that limit. This limit is known as the breakdown voltage and is dependent on the diode\'s type, size and material.
The diode\'s anode is connected to one end of the circuit, while the cathode is connected to the other end. When the current flow reaches the zener voltage, it will shut off and the voltage across the diode drops to zero. This results in a regulated output voltage and current limited to the specified breakdown voltage of the diode.
The voltage regulator also provides overvoltage protection by shutting off the circuit when the voltage breaks the zener barrier. This will protect the circuit against excessive current, which can damage components that were not designed to handle too much current.
1N5340B/TR8 is designed to be used in low and medium-power applications. It is suitable for applications where high and accurate voltage regulation is required. It is also suitable for use in power supplies, voltage regulators, transducers, overvoltage protection and polarity reversal schemes.
