The 1N5347BE3/TR13 is a zener diode device primarily used in applications requiring a reference voltage for significant stability, accuracy, and simplicity. Zener diodes are used for a wide variety of applications and behave differently in different modes according to the type of device (avalanche, schottky, etc). This zener diode is made from a direct process of material engineering to achieve high performance and reliability.

When the 1N5347BE3/TR13 is applied to the most common application, the voltage regulator, it behaves by ensuring that the voltage at the output is constant and not affected by variations in the load current. The power supply input voltage is applied to the anode side of the diode and a small current is generated through the diode due to the voltage drop across the junction. If the input voltage is well above the diode’s voltage ratings, the current will flow through the diode and dissipate as heat, thus keeping the output voltage of the circuit constant. If the input voltage is less than the diode’s zener voltage threshold, the device acts as a shunt to the output and blocks the input voltage allowing the output to remain constant.
