1N5923C is Zener single diode. It is designed for wave shaping applications and voltage regulation purposes. This diode has various features like low capacitance, low noise, high current performance and low parasitic capacitance.
1N5923C is also known as a wide bandgap diode because of its ability to operate in high reverse breakdown voltage. It is find application in voltage regulation and wave shaping circuits used in power supplies, telecom, industrial and medical industries.
The 1N5923C is a low voltage, low power Zener single diode (5.5V Zener) with low capacitance (less than 11 pF) and low noise at low reverse breakdown voltage. Its ESD rating is 3.2kV, making it an ideal choice for applications that require ESD protection. Its maximum reverse voltage rating is 6V with peak forward current of 20A.
The 1N5923C has a low series resistance, which makes it an ideal choice for applications that require low power or high noise immunity. The 1N5923C has a low forward voltage drop of 0.5V, so it can easily be used in applications that need to switch quickly, without having to use a large reduction in power.
The working principle of the 1N5923C is based on the principle of electron tunneling. Basically, the diode has two layers, one is the base layer and the other is the doping layer. Electrons from the doping layer move through the tunnel between the base and doping layers. When the forward voltage is applied to the diode, the electrons are forced to move through the tunnel. This creates a current flow from the anode to the cathode.
For a reverse voltage applied to the diode, the electrons are stopped in the tunnel and no current will flow. When the reverse voltage becomes greater than the breakdown voltage of the diode, the current will increase and eventually reach the maximum allowed current. At this point, the Zener effect occurs.
When the reverse voltage is greater than the breakdown voltage and less than the rated Zener voltage, the voltage across the diode and any associated load connected to it, will remain at a constant voltage. This is known as the steady-state or regulated voltage, as the current will remain constant as long as the reverse voltage remains below the rated breakdown voltage. As the reverse voltage increases, the current will remain the same until the rated Zener voltage is reached and then the current will start to increase.
The 1N5923C is an ideal choice for applications that require voltage regulation, wave shaping and ESD protection, such as power supplies, telecom, industrial and medical industries. Its features like low capacitance, low noise, high current performance and low parasitic capacitance make it an excellent choice for these types of applications. Its operating temperature range is from -55°C to 125°C and its maximum storage temperature range is -65°C to 150°C.
