Diodes - Zener - Single - 1N5935D G Application Field and Working Principle
1N5935D G is a high-speed, ultra-low capacitance, low-power Zener diode designed for protecting devices from transient surges and static overvoltage. The maximum voltage rating for the 1N5935D G is about 6.8 volts. The low capacitance level allows the device to effectively suppress the noise and shimmer spikes generated by digital circuits and power supplies. Furthermore, the device provides excellent protection against static overvoltages, with a minimum breakdown voltage of 5.1 V. This type of diode is suitable for enhancing voltage spikes protection in multimedia products and electronic devices.
The unit is a single-body plastic package designed for surface mounting. It has an axial lead which controls the current flow as well as a variable capacitance. In addition, the device features an extra small size, which makes it ideal for high frequency applications. The device has a high surge capability and surpasses other similar parts on the market due to its low resistance, high ESD capability and low leakage current.
The 1N5935D G works according to the same principles applied to all Zener diodes. It is basically a diode that lets current pass in one direction until it reaches the Zener voltage. From this point on, the Zener diode can conduct current in both directions, allowing the voltage across it to build up until it reaches a minimum breakdown voltage. This protects the components connected to the diode from any voltage spikes or static overvoltages.
The Zener diode can be used in a reverse-biased configuration. In this configuration, the anode (positive terminal) is connected to the ground, and the cathode (negative terminal) is connected to the power supply, as shown in the diagram. When voltage is applied to the device, current flows in the reverse-biased direction and is determined by the resistance of the diode and its capacitance. As the current passes through the diode, it builds up a voltage across the diode until it reaches the Zener voltage level. At this point, the diode enters a breakover state, allowing current to pass in both directions and protecting the device from voltage spikes.
Because of its low capacitance level, the 1N5935D G has a faster response time than other Zener diodes on the market. This makes it suitable for suppressing fast rising edge spikes and preventing reset errors. Furthermore, its low-leakage current characteristic offers improved reliability, while its mini-package design provides space savings. All these features make the 1N5935D G the perfect choice for a variety of applications, including power supplies, protection circuits, and digital devices.
