1N5987D is a member in the family of single Zener diode. This diode has many different applications and has become a key component in many electronic circuits. It is commonly used in noise decoupling, motor control, and current sensing.The working principle of a single Zener diode is based on the non-linear voltage-current characteristic of a PN junction diode. This property is known as the Zener effect. The Zener effect enables the diode to control a voltage in the reverse breakdown region. In this region, the diode is essentially conducting in the reverse direction. Then the voltage across it is essentially a constant value and thereby will not be affected by external sources of voltages and current.1N5987D has a variety of specifications. It has a maximum reverse-breakdown voltage of 400V, a minimum operating temperature of -55℃, and a maximum operating temperature of +125℃. It also has a peak power dissipation of 500 mW, and a storage temperature of -55 to +150℃. In addition, it has a uni-polar unit of 28 mA, and can withstand surge current up to 3 amps.1N5987D is used for different application requirements. It is an ideal solution for applications requiring a constant voltage supply from a fluctuating power source, including noise decoupling, motor control, and current sensing. With its high temperature operating range, 1N5987D can also be used in applications requiring accurate voltage control in extreme temperatures.
