The 1N6299AHE3_A/C is designed to protect against transient voltage spikes up to 10V and it provides up to 20V reverse bias protection. This diode is designed for high levels of reliability, immunity to ESD, surge and overvoltage conditions and is suitable for high surge surge/overload/overvoltage applications. The device is encapsulated in a low-profile surface mount package with a high-voltage standoff capability and is a do-214AC. It is well suited for applications such as USB 3.0 ports and other high speed data applications.

The working principle of the 1N6299AHE3_A/C is based on the combination of two current blocking Z-diodes connected in series. These two Z-diodes act like two back-to-back diodes, which cause the current flowing through them to be shared equally. The current share reduces the dynamic resistance of the circuit. The dynamic resistance is defined as the ratio of the voltage change rate divided by the current change rate. The lower the dynamic resistance, the faster the response time of the device.

During normal operation, the diodes act like a normal Z-diode. However, during an overvoltage condition, the two diodes will forward biased and will act as a short circuit and will switch the current away from the device.
