1N7053UR-1 is part of the single rectifier family of diodes produced by Vishay Intertechnology. Single rectifier diodes such as 1N7053UR-1 are commonly classified as a three-terminal junction semiconductor device that is made up of two ultra-thin P-N wafers. This type of diode permits current to flow in one direction only. When an electrical current is applied to the device, current flows only from the anode to the cathode and then continues through the load. When current is applied to the device in the opposite direction, no current flows.
The application field of 1N7053UR-1 covers very wide range, such as AC/DC converter, rectifying circuit, battery charger, on-off power switch, TV receivers, alarm systems, and so on. It shows good performance of easy-startup, high surge capability and high temperature durability. The rated power of 1N7053UR-1 diode is 0.25A, and its reverse voltage is 700V at 25°C. Its isolation voltage is 1000V AC for 1 minute.

The electrons will then travel toward the P-type material, while the holes move in the opposite direction. However, the dimensions of the P and N-type materials don’t match, so the electrons and holes will eventually be stopped. This process results in the formation of a depletion layer. When the depletion layer is large enough, current will not flow through the device. This physical nature forms the basis for a rectifier’s functioning as an one direction current control device.
