Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are mainly comprised of an internal aluminum foil that acts as the anode, a dielectric oxide film which is a few nanometers thick, a chemical solution electrolyte which is usually liquid, and an external aluminum foil which serves as the cathode. The capacitor is produced by rolling up these internal and external foil electrodes, and providing the connection to external terminals.

The 200SXW100MEFC18X20 is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor. The 200 in the number refers to the rated voltage in volts. SXW means the smaller case size of the 8mmx11mm. 100M refers to the capacitance in micro farads. Lastly, integrating is used for DC averaging, as the capacitor inherently has some resistance to the flow of DC currents.

In terms of the working principle, this aluminum electrolytic capacitor works in a very similar way to other types of capacitor. It consists of two plates separated by an insulating material, usually a dielectric. When a voltage is applied across the plates, a charge builds up on each plate which creates a potential difference between them. This potential difference is known as the capacitance. The capacitor stores energy in the form of electrostatic charge and releases it when it is needed.

Generally speaking, the higher the capacitance of the capacitor, the more charge it can store and the more energy it can deliver. This makes aluminum electrolytic capacitors ideal for use in electrical circuits, as they are able to deliver a large amount of charge in a short amount of time. This makes them especially useful for applications such as filtering, buffering, and bypassing.
