Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT) are essential components of any power supply system that are designed to provide effective protection against lightning surge voltages, power frequency surges and other transient overvoltages. They are used to redirect and dissipate the energy of the incoming transient voltage, thus preventing it from damaging or destroying the equipment connected to the power supply system.
