Working principle
The 25LC020A-I/ST has three main internal operations: write, read and erase. Figure 1 describes the overall architecture of the 25LC020A-I/ST. It consists of a controller, a read/write logic block and the memory cells. The controller block is responsible for the interactions between the memory core and external interfaces. The read logic block connects to the memory cells and controls the data flow. The write logic block uses write enable signals to put the data into the memory cells.

The basic read/write operation of 25LC020A-I/ST involves the following steps:
- The user sends a command, device address and write data bits through the bus.
- The controller block detects the command and routes it to the appropriate logic block.
- The logic block then controls the memory cells to execute the read/write operation.
- The logic block then sends out the read data to the user.
The erase operation is similar to the read/write operation. When an erase command is sent by the user, the controller block will route it to the appropriate logic block to perform the erase operation. The erase operation will overwrite the content in the memory cell with 0s.
