Working Principle

The working principle of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is based on Faraday\'s law of electromagnetic induction. The basic components of a conventional aluminum electrolytic capacitor are: twin-sided aluminum foil, sealant paper (as an insulating material) and electrolyte. A certain amount of positive charge (which is determined by the user requirement) is stored in the capacitor\'s aluminum foil. Since the aluminum foil is insulated by the insulant paper, the charges will not dissipate easily. On the other side of the insulant paper, electrolyte is poured, which attracts some negative charge reactions so that a pair of opposite charges are formed in the capacitors. The capacitance of the aluminum electrolytic capacitors is determined by the surface area of the aluminum foil. When there is a voltage potential difference, an electric current will run around the capacitor, which is the current that supplies or the current that accelerates the capacitor\'s electric charges. Eventually, the input electric energy is converted to electrostatic energy stored in the capacitor. By adjusting the voltage potential, the stored energy can be taken out.
