Working Principle of 30D107M160GK2A

The 30D107M160GK2A utilizes typical aluminum electrolytic technology, which consists of a wound aluminum foil with a barrier layer, and a barrier layer covering the area between the plates and the electrolyte. As the charging and discharging process takes place through the barrier layer, the amount of charge that can be stored in an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is much greater than that of a film capacitor.

When the capacitor is charged, positive electrical charges are stored in the anode layer of aluminum foil, negative electrical charges are stored in the barrier layer, and the electrolyte also holds electrical charges. As current passes through the capacitor, counter charges of the opposite polarity are stored in the barrier layer, which resists the charge and produces an electric field. This electric field creates a charge density between the anode and the barrier layer, resulting in a capacitance.

The amount of capacitance generated is proportional to the size of the aluminum foil, the dielectric layer and the surface area of the electrolyte. Due to the presence of a barrier layer, the capacitance generated is much greater than that of film capacitors. As a result, aluminum electrolytic capacitors are more suitable for applications that require higher capacitance and higher voltage ratings than film capacitors.
