Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are the most widely used capacitors for edging applications and voltage filtering. These capacitors use the phenomenon of an electric double layer at the interface between a dielectric that is an oxide film and an electrolyte, which is usually an aqueous solution of an alkaline or acidic compound. The capacitors are widely used in noise suppression, voltage filtering, pulsed power operations, and other electrical engineering applications.

The 380LX271M400A022 aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a polarized, screw-type safety capacitor with an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. The capacitor is suitable for general electronic applications such as voltage filtering and power supplies. It is also used in many types of noise suppression applications in electrical systems.

The 380LX271M400A022 capacitor consists of an aluminum oxide dielectric layer between a pair of electrodes.
