Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

The 383LX223M035N042 is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor, a type of capacitor which utilizes an electrolyte to attain a capacitance of 223 MFD at a rated voltage of 35 volts. Working Principle

The 383LX223M035N042 is an electrochemical capacitor, consisting of two layers of electrochemically etched aluminum foil that are separated by a layer of electrolyte. The etching process creates a porous structure, increasing the surface area of the aluminum foil, allowing more ions to move between them. At any given voltage, the inverse of the capacitance is proportional to the thickness of the electrolyte layer.

When a voltage is applied across the capacitor, it creates an electric field between the two aluminum layers. This electric field draws ions out of the electrolyte, causing them to build up on the surface of the capacitor plates. This buildup of ions results in what is known as a double layer, a layer of separation that prevents further electric charge from passing through. As the two layers accumulate charge, they become negatively and positively charged, building up a charge on the capacitor plates. The amount of charge that accumulates, known as the capacitance, is determined by the voltage applied, the size and number of capacitor plates, and the thickness of the electrolyte.
