Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors
Aluminum electrolytic capacitors use a non-solid, electrolyte-soaked paper separator to create a larger space between the two metal plates than in a solid tantalum capacitor, allowing more capacitance in a smaller package.
The 400AX8R2MEFC8X16 is a radial lead, two-end-play aluminum electrolytic capacitor from Panasonic Electric Works. It has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, and is self-healing, meaning a short circuit can occur and will not damage the capacitor.
Application Fields

Working Principle
The working principle of this type of capacitor is based on the classic electrostatic charge process. When a voltage is applied, a separation of charges begins, which creates a capacitance and a field between the plates. The field is responsible for maintaining the charges in the two metal plates and preventing their flow.
The capacitor also has a dielectric, which is an insulating material, usually aluminum oxide, which separates the two metal plates.
