Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors
Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are electric components consisting of two aluminum foils which are rolled together to form a cylinder that is functionally equivalent to two plates separated by an insulator, as shown in Figure 1. The inner part is impregnated with an electrolyte (usually a potassium hydroxide solution) that conducts electricity, allowing charges to be stored on the plates. The main purpose of an aluminium electrolytic capacitor is to store electrical energy.
