Working Principle

When a high voltage transient appears, since the voltage across the diode increases, the diode starts to conduct current in the negative direction, thus creating an anti-parallel electric conduction path (ECP). As the ECP forms, current flows through the TVS diode, reducing the voltage level in the circuit. In other words, the TVS diode is designed to reduce voltage spikes and absorb ESD current surges before they reach the device, thereby protecting the device from damage.
