The 5KP7.0CA is a surface mount, Media-Oxide-Semiconductor (MOS) transient voltage suppressor diode used to protect vulnerable electronic circuits from voltage and current spikes. This board is part of the ranges of TVS diodes that are used in aelectronic circuits requiring degrees of overvoltage protection and surge protection. The 5KP7.0CA is a low capacitance, low clamping voltage with disconnect diode structure TVS diode. It is suitable for USB 2.0 and 3.0 power applications and other data lines (for example, DSL/HDS) with low capacitance MOS engineering structure (23pF). This is an ideal device to protect from overvoltage caused by ESD (electrostatic discharge), EFT (electrical fast transient), and lightning caused surges.
5KP7.0CA applications field mainly included automobile electronics, communication systems, computer peripheral systems, consumer electronics, industrial machinery, medical equipment, military equiment, and networking systems. When a surge voltage is applied, the 5KP7.0CA automatically conducts current away from vulnerable circuits and safeguards systems from damaging voltage transients. The main working principle of 5KP7.0CA Voltage suppressor is based on the principle of avalanche breakdown in which electrons are accelerated to very high speed by the electric field, resulting in ionization of the neutral gas and resultant current flow. The 8KP7.0CA TVS diode provides superior ESD protection due to its special 12 Volt stand-off voltage package and low capacitance characteristics. The special structure enables the 8KP7.0CA to dissipate power much faster than ordinary silicon diodes.
This TVS diode provides superior quality of protection against overvoltage from transients caused by electrical fast transients (EFT) and electrostatic discharge (ESD). The TVS diodes protect the ICs from current overshoot or undershoot and energy induced by sudden voltage spikes or lightning. The 5KP7.0CA has excellent transient protection characteristics with extremely high surge capability up to 150 Amperes.
