Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are components that use the electrochemical reactions caused by aluminum foil and salts of the working liquid to store electrical energy. The 686TXK250M is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor that has an aluminum shell, a screw type, and has a rated capacitance of 250μF and a rated voltage of 35V. This particular capacitor is designed and manufactured in compliance with UL, VDE, CQC standards and is Rohs compliant.

In addition, a separator made of paper saturated with electrolyte is fitted between the two foils. The two electrodes are then connected to the two terminals; the plus and minus symbols are printed on the capacitor body.

When the capacitor is connected to a power source, an electric current flows between the two electrodes and through the electrolyte. This will cause an electrochemical reaction on the surface of the oxide film and the aluminum foil, which creates a very thin, but effective capacitance. As a result of this capacitance, electric current will flow through the capacitor, causing electrical energy to be stored.

The 686TXK250M aluminum electrolytic capacitor has a rated capacitance of 250μF and a rated voltage of 35V. It is able to handle up to 10,000 or more hours of continuous operation at rated voltage, and has a voltage-temperature coefficient of about -30 to +20㏀/℃. The 686TXK250M lifetimes based on several endurance tests are shown in the table below.
