93LC66B-I/MS is a SPI bus EEPROM, which is also known as Serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM). This SPI bus EEPROM has 256 bit (32 bytes) serial electrically erasable programmable read only memory, including 4 page registers. This EEPROM is capable of bi-directional communication on a serial data bus with data stored at up to 10MHz.

The 93LC66B-I/MS application field includes industrial, automotive, medical and wireless applications. It is a good low-cost alternative to discrete device solutions which store information that needs to be updated frequently. It can be used for data logging and logging of machine parameters as well as data validation.

The working principle of 93LC66B-I/MS is simple. The chip contains an 8-bit address buffer and 256 bits of non-volatile memory. To read from or write to the device, it requires the use of a serial command. Command formats and cycle selection can be used to control the read/write cycles for individual memory segments. Data is shifted out of the chips during a read cycle and shifted into the chip during a write cycle. This EEPROM supports both single-byte operations and sequential write/read operations between addresses within the same page.

When writing, the data is written to the page register one byte address at a time. Whenever the address reaches the end the current page, writing stops and waits for the next write cycle to start. In reading, after writing a byte address to the page register, data can be shifted out of the page register one address at a time until the last address of the page is reached.

The erase function of 93LC66B-I/MS is done in two stages. In the first stage, the data is erased in a page which means all the data in the same page will be erased. In the second stage, the data is programmed into the page. Erasing is done by issuing an erase command which is followed by a write command. Programming is done by issuing a write command followed by a write enable command.
