The A1389LUATN-9-T operates on a magneto-resistive principle. In magneto-resistive sensing, the Hall effect is used to detect changes in a magnetic field. When a magnetic field is applied to a semiconductor material, the evenly-distributed charge carriers within the material become unbalanced. This results in a net voltage being generated within the material, which can then be measured by an electronic device. In the A1389LUATN-9-T this effect is used to measure the intensity of a magnetic field and thus determine the absolute angle of a permanent magnet. The A1389LUATN-9-T is designed for use in a variety of operating conditions. It is able to accurately detect the angle of a permanent magnet within a wide range of field strengths of up to ±200Gauss.
