Introduction: A170PE is a single-phase common cathode bridge rectifier, which is designed and manufactured by Powersonic. This device is widely used in computer power supplies, inverters, battery chargers, household appliances, telecommunication systems and automotive applications.

Features: A170PE is an ideal rectifier for AC-to-DC applications, suitable for high-rated current applications (up to 10A). It has a low forward voltage drop for improved efficiency and a large carrying temperature range of -40°C to +155°C for reliable operation. This device also has a low thermal resistance for superior heat dissipation, enabling it to operate at full power for longer periods of time before overheating.

Structure and Terminals: The A170PE diode bridge is encapsulated in an epoxy-coated aluminum case with three terminals on each side, each of which is marked with a letter signifying its respective polarity. On the left side, the terminals are labeled A (positive), B (negative), and C (common). On the right side, the terminals are labeled D (positive), E (negative), and F (common).

Working Principle: When the A170PE diode bridge is connected to an AC source, the positive and negative AC inputs are connected to the "A" and "E" terminals, respectively. The AC current then flows sequentially through each of the four diodes in the bridge, resulting in a continuous half-wave rectified current. The positive peak of the AC voltage is rectified to the positive "F" terminal and the negative peak is rectified to the negative "B" terminal. This rectified current then passes through the load connected to the "C" and "F" terminals, resulting in a DC output voltage.
