As a linear-analog multiplier and divider, the AD632BDZ works by converting a control voltage (VIN) into a frequency (f) and then multiplying or dividing the frequency of VIN by a factor of two or four. The output voltage (VOUT) is directly proportional to the frequency of VIN and is determined by the input ratios of the multiplier or divider. This direct proportion facilitates linearity and accuracy in the output signal. The AD632BDZ has very low linearity error and low nonlinearity, allowing for operation in a broad range of input and output voltages.
