PMIC - RMS to DC ConvertersThe AD637KDZ is an innovative device that offers a novel solution for the conversion of RMS signals to DC signals. The integrated circuit is designed to support a wide variety of applications such as audio level meters, peak measurement modules and signal conditioning systems. The AD637KDZ utilizes a novel design that combines gains and active filter capabilities along with full-wave rectifier circuits within a single integrated circuit solution. This RMS-to-DC converter is capable of detecting any type of periodic multi-cycle waveform, which makes it highly suitable for numerous applications that demand higher accuracy levels. The AD637KDZ consists of four main components with distinct operation principles. First, the adaptive-gain-tracking amplifier has an adjustable unity-gain bandwidth of 1 MHz in order to compensate for any input signal variance. Second, there is a second amplifier, which boosts the input signal to the necessary level and also provides high common-mode rejection of 65 dB. Third, the rectifier section is responsible for the conversion of RMS signals to DC signals. This section is comprised of a full-wave rectifier, a low-pass filter, a peak voltage diverter, and an output amplifier. Lastly, a summing amplifier is found within the AD637KDZ, which transforms the input signal into a square-root signal. The AD637KDZ is capable of operating within a supply voltage range from +7V to +25V, which means the device can be operated with single or dual synds. It has a rated output voltage between 0 and 10V, with a minimum settling time of 1ms. The AD637KDZ features a range of additional features such as remote sense, power good and remote shutdown.
