The AD7729ARU is a special purpose data acquisition product designed to provide simple yet effective solutions to a range of application requirements. Taking advantage of a hybrid digital/analog architecture, the AD7729ARU can be configured to process a variety of electrical signals and to provide accurate and reliable results.
The AD7729ARU incorporates a wide range of analog-to-digital conversion and signal conditioning functions within a single, flexible package. As such, the device can be employed in data acquisition and control applications requiring accurate monitoring of a broad spectrum of physical parameters, from process control to medical data collection.
At the heart of the AD7729ARU is the Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) core. This core provides the device maximum resolution of 16bit for improved accuracy and linearity. The ADC section features offset and gain adjust functions to compensate for gain-based nonlinearities and external resistance temperature dependant components. Additional features including a temperature sensor, low-pass filter, programmable gain amplifier and frequency counter are also provided.
In addition to providing high speed, low noise analog-to-digital conversion, the AD7729ARU also offers flexible digital signal processing techniques. A digital Low Pass Filter algorithm enables the on-chip digital filter to reject unwanted noise in the signal prior to the analog-to-digital conversion stage. This technique can be useful in filtering out high frequency transient noise and other contamination that has been introduced into the signal by external sources.
The AD7729ARU is also capable of providing data conversion at higher resolutions (up to 24 bit resolution) via compositing techniques. This technique allows the user to combine the results of multiple conversions to achieve higher accuracy results.
The AD7729ARU also includes an integrated sensor calibration circuit which can be used to periodically monitor the data acquisition system for the presence of ambient temperature variations. This feature enables the accuracy of the data acquisition system to be maintained even under changing environmental conditions.
The AD7729ARU is also capable of providing variable-rate power supply operation in order to reduce power consumption. This feature is especially useful for applications such as medical diagnostics and process control, in which battery life must be extended for extended data acquisition operations.
The AD7729ARU is designed to meet the needs of applications which require high-speed, low-noise and high-accuracy data collection, while offering an affordable solution. Whether used inProcess Control and Medical Diagnostics applications or other industrial, automotive and consumer electronics applications, the AD7729ARU provides an economically viable alternative to traditional Data Acquisition systems.
