Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC) are indispensable in a variety of modern day-to-day applications such as those found in healthcare, industrial, telecommunications and military sectors. One example of this growing family of high-performance data acquisition devices is the AD7781CRUZ-REEL, a pull-reel analog-to-digital converter (ADC) designed by ADI as a solution for fast, accurate and low-noise remote data acquisition.
The AD7781CRUZ-REEL is a single-pole-double-throw (SPDT) analog-to-digital converter that operates over a wide range from ± 1000 mV with a 0.1% accuracy. It features high linearity+/-30 ppm, with an input noise density of 20μV/√Hz and a 1 MHz bandwidth. Moreover, the RP-SMA RF input eliminates the need for external shielding and simplifies the design of a wide-band remote data acquisition system. This type of device is ideal for applications that require a low-noise, low-power, wide-band and highly linear data conversion.
The AD7781CRUZ-REEL operates with a wide frequency range, operating at 3 arbitrary frequencies up to 30 MHz with a continuous sampling rate of 2.5 MSPS (million samples per second). It has a wide dynamic range ( 141 dBFS max) and provides low-noise and jitter-free data conversion. The device also comes with an integrated 12-bit ADC, a direct digital synthesizer, a low-pass filter, a selector block and an on-board analog-to-digital converter. The low-pass filter enables the acquisition of higher frequency signals over a wider bandwidth with greater accuracy.
In order to optimize data transfer and speed, the AD7781CRUZ-REEL comes with built-in applications for digital signal processing (DSP) operation such as down-sampling, up-sampling, FFT and I/Q data processing. To enable fast data transfer and low latency, the device features a JESD 8-lane, twelve-bit bus that supports a maximum data transfer rate of up to 48 MHz per second.
The AD7781CRUZ-REEL is built on the industry’s leading CMOS process. Its differential input architecture eliminates the need for external shielding and helps to reduce system noise and improve reliability. The device comes with an integrated adjustable voltage regulator and an integrated low-dropout voltage regulator, which provides power efficiency. Moreover, the AD7781CRUZ-REEL also has a low static power consumption of 2.5mW and a dynamic power consumption of 1mW.
The device supports multiple communication interfaces such as USB, Ethernet, RS-485, Bluetooth, Zigbee and so forth. This makes it easier to realize remote data acquisition. It also comes with integrated code and system debugging tools, which enable developers to quickly get their data acquisition system up and running.
