Linear video processing refers to the manipulation of analog video signals for the purpose of translating them into digital signals that can be used for transmission and display. The most common form of linear video processing involves transmitting and receiving analog signals, converting them to digital form, and then manipulating the digital signal in order to achieve the desired effect. The device also includes a level detector and offset adjustment for improved linearity, plus a linear output stage for easy interfacing to digital signal processors (DSP).
The AD8321ARZ offers maximum flexibility in controlling the signal path from the VCA to the linear output stage by employing digital control. This is done through an SBI (Slave Bus Interface) where control words are sent directly to the device, allowing the user to adjust the gain, offset, agc signal damping and linear output stage.
The signal path between the VCA and the linear output stage is switched in the VCA, which can be controlled through the SBI. The AGC sections can be enabled and disabled using the SBI. The gain, offset and signal damping settings can all be adjusted directly through the SBI bus. The linear output amplifier stage can be adjusted more precisely as small step changes have been enabled for better accuracy and resolution.
The AD8321ARZ also features an LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) output that supports communication speeds of up to 25 Gbps, thus enabling high-speed communication between the AFE and a host system at ultra-low power. Additionally, the device can be configured for both single-ended (SE) and differential (DI) outputs.
Overall, the AD8321ARZ is a low-power, high-performance integrated linear video processing circuit that offers excellent linearity and digital control capabilities, making it ideal for a wide variety of applications.
