AD8332ACPZ-RL, a low power variable gain amplifier (VGA) from the houses of Analog Devices is designed to function within the frequency range of 10MHz to 4GHz.
AD8332ACPZ-RL belongs to the category of linear amplifiers – special purpose. This VGA encompasses an integrated delay element to decouple the RF input with the Gain control port. AD8332ACPZ-RL is ideal for applications such as IF and RF amplifiers, automatic gain control (AGC) loops, receivers, transmitters, and test and measurement instrumentation. In AGC loops, they are often used as the core elements of power varied amplifiers whose gain is driven by the level of detected signal. In addition, they can be employed to set a modified gain path for amplification, allow the design of adjustable gain networks and are more advantageous than a fixed gain system.
It supports single-ended inputs and outputs are internally DC biased through precision resistors. Working at a supply voltage between 2.7V and 5V and current draw of 5mA, the VGA can operate within the temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. This integrated circuit works on high isolation gain linearity and easy to implement design thus adding more value to the device performance.
The active circuitry of the AD8332ACPZ-RL operates to provide a gain adjustment range from 10dB to 20dB. The gain is administered by the variation in the control voltage, which is externally applied. When no control voltage is applied the VGA delivers its maximum gain of 20dB and the gain reduces if the control voltage increases.
