The AD9520-3BCPZ is a member of Analog Devices’ family of precision clock and data recovery synthesizer chips; it is a combination of clock and data recovery integrated circuits (ICs) and Phase-Locked Loops (PLLs). It is intended to provide an effective solution for applications that require high frequency clock and data generation and management. The AD9520-3BCPZ can be used in a wide range of applications such as telecommunications, industrial automation, wireless, video and audio systems.
The AD9520-3BCPZ supports a wide frequency range of 2.5 GHz to 10 GHz. It also features an integrated multiplier PLL which can be used to generate higher frequency clocks from a lower frequency reference clock. The multiplier PLL allows for adjustment of the output frequency with the use of a single resistor ratio for fine tuning. The maximum multiplier frequency is 10 GHz, which can be increased to 16.384 GHz with the use of an external divider.
The AD9520-3BCPZ also provides a wide input voltage range of 0.9 V to 3.6 V for its voltage controlled oscillator (VCO). The VCO can be tuned to the desired clock frequency by adjusting its control voltage. The chip’s output stages feature 0.8 GHz gain-bandwidth and provide up to 200 mA of peak drive current.
The AD9520-3BCPZ also features a dual-input divider zone which is capable of locating 1, 4, 8, 16 and 32 division ratios. The divider zone provides extremely low jitter performance and is capable of clock division ratios as high as 2^32. The chip also includes an output phase alignment circuit, which can be used to phase lock multiple clock outputs.
In addition, the AD9520-3BCPZ provides a range of timing control pins. These pins can be used to adjust the phase delay of each output. The timing control pins allow for precise synchronization of multiple clock and data outputs from the chip. Finally, the chip also has an adjustable loop filter, which can be used to adjust the characteristics of the synthesizer.
