The AD9543BCPZ-REEL7 is a high performance clock generator/synthesizer which is capable of outputting ultra-low jitter clock signals through its differential clock outputs. It is used in a wide variety of applications such as high speed data conversion, communications, measurement and test equipment, instrumentation, and computing systems. The device provides two independent, selectable low-jitter differential clock outputs with frequency ratio linearly adjustable from f/2 to 28. Further, the frequency of each output can be set independently and adjusted with ±2 millionth of the frequency accuracy.Clock Generators are typically used to establish a standard frequency clock signal to be used across multiple devices within a system. Output frequencies are generated through a combination of digital signals, oscillators and synthesisers. The AD9543BCPZ-REEL7 utilizes a Phase Locked Loop (PLL) architecture to achieve the high accuracy frequencies it is able to output. PLLs make use of automatic frequency control, where an input signal\'s phase is compared to a reference signal, and the difference is used to control the frequency of the output signal. The AD9543BCPZ-REEL7 utilizes two identical PLLs in parallel that work in tandem to generate the two independent low-jitter differential clock outputs. The primary benefit of using a PLL in this case is that it enables frequency ratios outside the original range, defined by the reference input clock, to be outputted accurately. The AD9543BCPZ-REEL7 combines both a PLL and a Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) to ensure accurate frequency outputs. A VCO, which can be thought of as an adjustable oscillator that is controlled by a voltage, is used to set the frequency of each output clock while the PLL is used to maintain the accuracy of that frequency.The AD9543BCPZ-REEL7’s 2.5 V to 3.3V single supply operation and small size makes it highly desirable for many different types of applications. Its integrated synthesisers enable low jitter, low noise and low power consumption, allowing it to compete in any frequency dividing and multiplying application. Furthermore, the device features a host of features that offer flexibility and design freedom, including frequency pre-dividers, frequency dividers, non-overlap circuits, and various enable/disable functions.
