ADF4150BCPZ is a clock generator, PLL (Phase Locked Loop) and frequency synthesizer used in various applications. The device operates with a selectable supply voltage range of 1.8 to 3.3V and its output frequency range is 0.1 to 192MHz. ADF4150BCPZ Working Principle

The Frequency Synthesizer section contains a 10-bit Resolution Phase/Frequency Detector, a dual-modulus Prescaler (Ratio 8/9) and a Numerically Controlled Oscillator (NCO). The NCO produces an output signal with a frequency equal to the reference frequency times a frequency multiplication factor which is programmed via the prescaler. This frequency multiplication factor ranges from 1 to 256. The VCO is driven by the NCO output and produces an output signal with a frequency equal to the reference frequency times the VCO multiplication factor. This VCO multiplication factor ranges from 1 to 1024. The Clock Divider is used to divide the VCO output signal frequency into two separate output signals of different frequencies.
The On/Off Switch is used to enable or disable the output signals from the ADF4150BCPZ. When the switch is enabled, the output frequency will be equal to the reference frequency times the frequency multiplication factor. When the switch is disabled, the output frequency will be equal to zero. The Power Down Circuit is used to put the device into a low power mode, in which it consumes less power and produces no output.
In addition, it includes a Frequency Range Selection Pin which allows the frequency range to be selected from 1.8 to 3.3V.
