The ADG5462FBRUZ-RL7 is an integrated protection device from Texas Instruments applicable to TVS (Transient Voltage Suppression) as a Mixed Technology solution. The device combines a steering diode device with an integrated 8-channel TVS (Transient Voltage Suppression) array which enables fast and complete power rail protection. This device is especially useful for applications that experience both repetitive and non-repetitive high energy transients. The protection provided is stronger than traditional solutions, as it is able to survive most power rail or line transients. Additionally, it is capable of handling higher voltage and transient conditions without adversely impacting operating performance.The ADG5462FBRUZ-RL7 utilizes a unique combination of a steering diode structure and an integrated TVS array. The steering diode acts as a bridge to the positive rail, while the integrated TVS array is configured to absorb the energy from any overvoltage conditions. This enables the device to tolerate higher voltage spikes with a low forward voltage drop thereby protecting the circuit from damage. The device also includes features such as monitoring, current limiting, and thermal overload protection for better control and safety. The device features an adjustable voltage clamping rating usually ranging from 5V to 50V, with higher ratings available in special versions. It has an adjustable voltage threshold of from -6.7V to -16.7V at 2A current rating and -48V at 0.5A current rating. It is designed to support a wide range of standard cellular communication protocols, such as GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, HSPA, LTE, and others. In terms of its working principle, the device utilizes an integrated 8-channel TVS array for fast and complete power rail protection from unwanted overvoltage transients. The steering diode allows for a low Insertion Loss and highly accurate voltage clamping, while the integrated TVS array is designed to absorb energy and secure the system from damage. Upon an overvoltage condition, the device initiates a clamping action and the energy is transferred to the ground, preventing it from travelling back into the protected circuit.The ADG5462FBRUZ-RL7 is suitable for protecting bus and I/O lines in commercial and consumer electronics applications.
