ADM1021AARQZ-REEL is a high-efficiency, multi-function, precision power control IC. It belongs to the Thermal Management Category of PMIC chips and provides industrial level protection for temperature control applications. This IC is manufactured on top of the advanced 0.35 micron CMOS process and is capable of monitoring and controlling a wide range of temperatures. It also offers power management and thermal diagnosis for a variety of electronic applications.
The ADM1021AARQZ-REEL chip consists of several integrated functions such as precision temperature sensor, high accuracy power supply, precisely-controlled charging current, LED drivers and thermal control circuitry. The power control IC also features an on-chip real-time clock and a 2-channel, 8-bit 8-channel analog to digital converter. The on-chip temperature sensor can detect temperature values in any environment and can be used to monitor the temperature of the board or set temperature triggers in the system effectively.
The ADM1021AARQZ-REEL has an outstanding power efficiency, having an operating current of only 15 mA and a total current consumption of less than 0.6 mA. In addition, it also has very low self-discharge rates of 5 mA at a supply voltage of 5V. The low power consumption of this device also helps to reduce component count and cost, making it very suitable for wide range of applications.
The integrated digital temperature sensor of the ADM1021AARQZ-REEL chip enables highly accurate measurements with high accuracy in range from -50 to +150 °C. It has a very fast response time of less than 10 microseconds, while maintaining its very low power consumption. Additionally, the chip also features a highly-accurate, steadily-coupled voltage regulator that provides very low noise, ripple and distortion to the signals.
To ensure maximum system stability, the ADM1021AARQZ-REEL power control IC can be utilized with control loops that range from fast to slow loop speed (including advanced dynamic frequency control), as well as with hysteretic and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control. Additionally, it supports various types of power dissipations, such as constant current, alternate current, step-up/step-down and non-linear control, to provide the best thermal performance.
The ADM1021AARQZ-REEL PMIC-Thermal Management chip comes with built-in LED drivers that have a maximum output power of 20 mA each, with a forward voltage of 2V and a forward current of up to 20 mA. This integrated LED driver is used to provide visual feedback to users, while reducing the system load. Furthermore, the thermal control circuitry integrated in this device can also be used to provide thermal protection for the system, preventing it from overheating.
Due to its various integrated functions, ADM1021AARQZ-REEL meets the requirements of industrial use and can be deployed for applications such as low-latency thermal management, intelligent power management, adaptive duty cycle control, linear charging and discharging power control, heat dissipation control, and more.
