The ADM1026JSTZ is a Power Management and Control IC specifically designed for thermal management applications. It is an exquisite all-in-one package for intelligent, multi-zone tunneling thermal tuning. This system-on-chip solution renders the control and management of temperature ranges more accurate and efficient.

Application Field

The ADM1026JSTZ is widely used in servers, notebook computers and various other portable computer applications. It has a variety of versatile features such as Microprocessor Temperature Monitor, Advanced Fan-Speed Control, Programmable Temperature Control, Intelligent Throttling & Control, Detecting Failures and ample customization capabilities.

The fan speed can be controlled by using different PWM duty cycles which deliver the required cooling at any moment. Moreover, it also gives flexibility in terms of creating customized cooling profiles to optimize performance and reduce power consumption.

The IC has a dedicated IRQ output pin, which allows the system to detect any failure at the earliest possible opportunity. This prevents any potential damage to the system due to over-heating.

Working Principle

The ADM1026JSTZ integrates internal temperature sensor and external thermal diode to monitor the temperatures of four different zones in a Smart Data Format (SDF). It supports multiple fan speed measuring mechanisms and presents five user-defined temperature thresholds.

The IC uses a 13-bit internal ADC for temperature measurement and it can provide precise temperature readings in the range of -128°C to +128°C. Its control algorithm provides a wide operating temperature range from -55°C to +127°C.

For fan speed control, the IC utilizes a proprietary PWM frequency which contains 14 bits and a fixed frequency of 500 Hz. This ensures that the RPM and fan speed are perfectly in sync with the temperature readings and the thermal profiles.

The software within the IC is capable of self-educating based on the machine\'s behaviour, so that the cooling system gains precision over time. The user can also adjust the fan speed dynamically, depending on their requirements.

The ADM1026JSTZ integrates with other components to provide an overall solution for controlling and managing the temperature inside electronics. It will constantly adjust the fan speed as needed, and keep thermal loads from becoming too high, making it a great choice for thermal management in almost any application.
