The ADP125-EVALZ evaluation board works on the principle of Linear Voltage Regulation. The board contains two active components which operate as voltage regulators: a Resistor-Capacitor Network (RC Network) and a Linear Regulator. The RC Network serves to filter out high frequency noise, reduce the turn-on time, and provide thermal protection. The Linear Regulator allows a voltage controlled by the user to be regulated and maintained to the desired output voltage. The ADP125-EVALZ control circuit continuously monitors the input voltage and the output voltage. If the output voltage deviates from the predetermined value, the control circuit adjusts the resistance of the RC Network to compensate. The adjustment of the RC Network results in a change of the input voltage seen by the Linear Regulator which in turn adjusts the output voltage to match the predetermined value.
