The ADP1873-BL1-EVZ Evaluation Board from Analog Devices Incorporated offers a compact, efficient, and easy to use evaluation module for Boost PFC applications. It is ideal for off-line SMPS applications including isolated DC/DC or AC/DC converters.

This evaluation board is a closed loop, fixed frequency, Flyback power factor correction topology. It features a 65 W, non-isolated converter with constant current output capability. The onboard controller offers a maximum peak current limit of up to 300 mA and fixed frequency operation up to 500 kHz. The high frequency operation reduces component size and cost, and the high switching frequency improves the overall converter efficiency significantly.

The board also includes a quasi-resonant controller IC that operates with a fixed frequency or zero current mode. In zero current mode, the output current is set by the inductor value and there is no additional inductance required. The output voltage can be adjusted from 4.8V to 24V with a single resistor.

The ADP1873-BL1-EVZ evaluation board includes low-side and high-side MOSFETs with integrated circuitry to provide active snubbing for reduced EMI and improved efficiency. The PFC boosting stage is pre-populated with a synchronous rectifier with a low-side driver, and a buck converter stage with its own dedicated switches.
